The Gaslight Anthem Pack the Palladium and Deliver a Memorable Performance

Great expectations were in the air as The Gaslight Anthem made their way to Los Angeles for a sold out show at the Hollywood Palladium. The band, who haven’t played together since their fabled ‘59 Sound anniversary shows in 2018, put on a great show. Prior to them taking the stage, the crowd was chanting “gaslight” as the lights went out and each band member to their position on stage. Singer and rhythm guitarist, Brian Fallon, greeted the crowd as he put on his guitar and the band led off with a great rendition of Get Hurt, from the 2014 release of the same name. Drummer, Benny Horowitz and bassist, Alex Levine, were locked in groove all night long, as guitarists Alexander Rosamilia and Ian Perkins handled the guitar work on top of the solid foundation that the rhythm section laid out.

Fallon, exchanged in some friendly banter between songs, was clearly having a good time on stage, and a good time with the fans, many whom have waited a number of years to see this band back together on stage. Some standout songs included Handwritten, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Old Haunts, and a great cover of Chloe Dancer by Mother Love Bone, and State of Love and Trust from Pearl Jam. He explained how his love of the Singles soundtrack led to this mashup from two of album’s stand out tracks. The night wrapped up with a great trifecta of American Slang, 45, and The ‘59 Sound.

Kicking things off was a great new band named Tigers Jaw. They were energetic and had great material. This band was the perfect choice to open for Gaslight and anyone who was there early for this set, got something special. There are many remaining dates of this tour and if you have the chance to see The Gaslight Anthem live, do it! The show is a can’t miss and you won’t regret it.
