Chris Shiflett brought his Hard Lessons tour to the Moroccan Lounge in LA for a fired-up performance in front of a packed house. From the moment he took the stage there was an energy from Chris and the band that the audience fed off of throughout the whole night. Playing a mixture of songs from his previous two solo albums, West Coast Town and Hard Lessons, the crowd was really into this well-crafted set and many were singing the lyrics right back at him.
His set up for the night was a red Fender Telecaster known as The Cleaver, a modest pedalboard, and a Vox AC30. That was the perfect combination for Chris as he coaxed all kinds of sounds from his rig ranging from some country twang and desert space rock to some good ol’ rock n roll. Some highlights from the night included: “Sticks & Stones,” “Goodnight Little Rock,” “Liar’s Word,” and “West Coast Town.”
Jade Jackson opened the show and her performance was also warmly received with many of the audience pledging their love to her or her music. On this night, it was only Jade and her guitarist and lifelong friend, Julian Ness. Thoughtful songs and reverb drenched, vibrato heavy guitar riffs were the perfect combination to get the night started.
Both of these artists are really great and each have recently released standout solo albums that are both worth your time.
