The “Hurricane” kicked off her Controlled Chaos tour at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach. This venue was very familiar to her during her days with the Iron Maidens, and this was her first time back as a headlining solo artist. The energy in the room was kept at a high level throughout her set as she and her band worked every available area of the stage keeping the sold out crowd engaged the whole time.

As she blazed through a mixture of songs from her debut album, Controlled Chaos, released late last year, some standout songs were “Alegria,”The Quest,” “Our Most Desperate Hour,” and “Mariana Trench”. That is my favorite track off the new album and it was fantastic to see it live. It was played early in the set and really set the tone for the rest of the night. It was energetic, powerful, and also featured some stellar drumming by Josh Villalta. She also played “The Show Must Go On” from Queen, “Aces High” from Iron Maiden with the crowd handling the vocals, and “I’m Eighteen” from Alice Cooper that featured Katt Scarlett on vocals.

Nita is definitely one of the best guitarists out there and has a few shows left for this tour before heading out on the road with Alice Cooper as a member of his band. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this sorceress of the fretboard and definitely check out her album, Controlled Chaos.
